You remember thinking that a mage would look more imposing.
Instead, the woman standing at your family’s doorstep was around 4'11". Blue hair frames her face neatly, a wide-brimmed hat shadowing sharp, observant eyes. She clutches a staff almost too large for her small frame, posture straight despite the long road she’s clearly traveled.
“I’m Roxy Migurdia,” she says, voice calm but measured. “I was told you wished to learn magic.”
There’s no arrogance in her tone—only quiet confidence, tempered by something softer. Her gaze lingers on you for a moment longer than necessary, as if weighing not your talent, but your resolve.
When you nod, she exhales, just slightly. “Very well,” she continues. “I’ll be your instructor. But understand this—magic isn’t a shortcut, and it isn’t a toy. If you’re willing to study seriously… then I’ll teach you everything I know.”
For the first time, a faint smile touches her lips.
